Newcastle United next manager odds: AC Milan legend Gennaro Gattuso shock favourite to replace Rafael Benitez this summer

Gennaro Gattuso has emerged as the shock favourite to take over from Rafael Benitez as Newcastle United manager.

The Spaniard is officially out of contract at St James’ Park on June 30 and, despite 18 months of talks, it appears as though there have been no breakthrough in negotiations.

Benitez reportedly wants six new players this summer, but is only set to be given £50million to spend once the window opens on May 16.

As a result, speculation about the former Liverpool boss’ future has begun to intensify and Gattuso has moved into the role of favourite.

The tempestuous Italian has been in charge of Milan for the past 18 months after Vincenzo Montella’s sacking, but is currently 30 POINTS off champions Juventus.

With Champions League football by no means guaranteed, it is highly likely a change at the top could occur, leaving the door open for the World Cup winner to take charge of the Magpies.

But who else is in the frame to take over if Benitez walks away from his position on Tyneside?
