Peter Beardsley has been charged by the Football Association with racially abusing youth-team players.

The former Newcastle United under-23s coach left the club earlier this month after a 14-month investigation into bullying was carried out.

Beardsley has been charged with three breaches of FA Rule E3.

â€Å“It is alleged Mr Beardsley used abusive and/or insulting words towards Newcastle United FC Under-23 players, which were contrary to FA Rule E3(1), whilst employed as their coach,” read a statement from the FA.

“It is further alleged these words also constituted an ‘aggravated breach’, which is defined in FA Rule E3(2), as they included reference to ethnic origin and/or colour and/or race and/or nationality.”

Beardsley has until April 12 to respond.

A formal complaint was made about Beardsley by midfielder Yasin Ben El-Mhanni, who has since left the club, in January last year.

The 58-year-old has denied the allegations.

“I’m not a bully, and I’m not a racist,” he said at a public speaking event in Gateshead this month.

A statement by his solicitors, released at the time his period of leave began when Newcastle launched their probe, said: “Peter Beardsley categorically denies the allegations. It is hoped the investigation will conclude quickly.”

Everton transfer news: Marco Silva eyes £35m deal for Bournemouth’s Callum Wilson… but Idrissa Gueye could be sold to raise funds

Everton are plotting an ambitious £35million bid for Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson, according to reports.

The Sun claim the Toffees have identified the England international as the man to help them break into the Premier League’s top six.

However, they could be forced to sell Idrissa Gueye, the midfielder, in order to fund another big summer spending spree.

Marco Silva is convinced Wilson, 27, is the man to spearhead Everton’s charge towards Europa League football.

The former Coventry striker has scored 15 times for Bournemouth this season and has recently been named as part of Gareth Southgate’s England squad for next month’s Nations League finals.

The club are also reportedly desperate to land Andre Gomes and Kurt Zouma on permanent deals after both had successful loan spells in Merseyside.

Idrissa Gueye could be waving goodbye to Everton this summer

Signing all three players would come at a considerable cost though, approximately £100m, hence why the Toffees could be forced into selling Gueye.

The club have already spent a whopping £350m on new players since Farhad Moshiri became owner three years ago.

And Moshiri has made it clear to Silva he needs to reduce the size of his squad before launching another spending spree.

Silva is hoping to offload the likes of Cenk Tosun, Yannick Bolasie and Sandro Ramirez in order for get another transfer war chest signed off.

With limit interest in those expensively assembled players to date, it appears more likely Gueye being offloaded – with Paris Saint-Germain still interested in signing the defensive midfielder.

The Frenchman was keen to move to the Parc des Princes in January, but Everton blocked his exit.

However, a bid in the region of £45m could be enough to tempt the Toffees into selling a player who cost them just £7m when he joined from Aston Villa back in 2016 as one of the first signings of the Moshiri regime.

Football: Oxlade-Chamberlain could return to training in February, says Klopp

LIVERPOOL, England (REUTERS) - Liverpool manager Juergen Klopp has confirmed Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is ahead of schedule in his recovery from a serious knee injury and could return to training as early as February.
Oxlade-Chamberlain sustained cruciate ligament damage when going in for a tackle during their Champions League semi-final first-leg win over Italian side AS Roma at Anfield in April.
The 25-year-old underwent surgery eight days later.
He was expected to miss the entire 2018-19 campaign but Liverpool supporters were given a boost earlier this week when the English midfielder was pictured running at the club's Melwood training ground.
"(It's the) best news," Klopp told a news conference on Friday (Dec 28).
"He started going on the pitch and from the first step he looked completely normal.
"Sometimes when players are coming back from injury and start running, you see them not really limping, but it's not the picture you had in your mind. With Ox, from the first step, it looked like Ox.
"No pressure on him, but it looks like it may be February back in normal training - late February, March, so that gives us hope that he will be back this season."

MIND GAMES

Liverpool host Unai Emery's Arsenal at Anfield on Saturday as they look to remain unbeaten and maintain their six-point advantage at the top of the Premier League standings.
In his own news conference, Emery said Liverpool have all the qualities to match Arsenal's 2003-04 'Invincibles' by going the whole season unbeaten and lifting the title.
When asked if the comments were a form of mind games from his counterpart, Klopp said: "That is not the Unai Emery I know.
"This is not them waving the white flag. It will be a really tough game. We are focused on ourselves."
Fifth-placed Arsenal were the last team to take a point from Liverpool in a 1-1 draw at the Emirates last month, but Emery's side have since lost their way, dropping seven points in their last three away games.
"We were not as good as we can be defending-wise," Klopp said of the two sides' last meeting.
"They are good, strong with the ball and very lively. Their counter-attacks are crazy-quick.
"(Pierre-Emerick) Aubameyang and (Alexandre) Lacazette are a good strike two. Outstanding strikers up front, quick on the wings - a really good team."

Arsenal can temporarily go fourth with a draw or a win until Chelsea face United later in the day.

Unai Emery̢۪s task of trying to get all three points at Leicester was made all the more difficult by Maitland-Niles̢۪ red.

He was booked early on in the match for a foul on Ben Chilwell and then got a second booking after 36 minutes for a tackle on James Maddison.

Here is how some Arsenal fans reacted on Twitter to the sending off.

Gareth Bale could be offered in deals for Manchester United or Paris Saint-Germain star this summer, Spanish football expert tells talkSPORT

Gareth Bale is likely to be offered out to clubs by Real Madrid as part of deals to sign the likes of Paul Pogba and Neymar, a Spanish football expert has told talkSPORT.

Zinedine Zidane looks set to make wholesale changes at the LaLiga club following their disappointing 2018/19 campaign.

Zidane was brought back for a second stint as manager earlier this year when Santiago Solari was sacked.

Change will be wanted by Madrid as they sit 18 points behind Barcelona with one game remaining, while they also crashed out of the Champions League to Ajax.

The former Tottenham man has also been booed by his own fans this season and Zidane looks determined to get rid of the Wales international.

Speaking to talkSPORT, Andrew Gaffney said: “The biggest advantage in Real Madrid’s favour is that because there are so many players they are after this summer, because they want to overhaul their squad, before he is offered out on loan he is going to be offered in deals for people like Neymar and Pogba.

“Probably not Hazard because that one seems to have already been done, but then there’s Eriksen at Spurs, which is why those four teams are constantly linked with Bale.”

One stumbling block could be Bale’s exorbitant wages, which are believed to be in excess of £600,000-a-week.

Gaffney added: “I don’t think anyone can question Bale’s ability. I know there are question marks around his fitness, which I don’t think are justified especially not this season as it has been his best season in terms of game return in the last three years.

“Obviously he’s not translated that into form on the pitch.

“It does present a huge problem. You have Harry Kane, who is on £200k plus bonuses per week, and you are asking Gareth Bale to come in who is going to dwarf that.

“It doesn’t add up on the financial side for Spurs right now unless Real Madrid are going to contribute a lot more to that wage.”
