Huddersfield boss Jan Siewert is facing the sack after falling out with his players and overseeing a record-equalling relegation from the Premier League, reports claim.
The Terriers’ fate was sealed with six games remaining when they lost 2-0 to Crystal Palace on Saturday – and it is unclear whether Siewert will oversee next season’s Championship campaign.
The German manager, who replaced the popular David Wagner in January, has reportedly angered the club’s senior players with his hardline approach.
According to The Times, Siewert will hold talks with Huddersfield owner Dean Hoyle in the coming weeks and it is understood he will demand a total overhaul of the squad this summer.
Key players have been dropped without explanation and Siewert has reacted agressively to defeats, it is claimed, and Hoyle must decide whether to back the manager or the players.

Siewert was given a contract until June 2021, but since his appointment, the club have lost eight of their nine games – and only Ipswich (1994/95) and Derby (2007/08) have been relegated this quickly.
Nonetheless, the 36-year-old has started preparing for life in the Championship.
“I know the Championship will be coming so I can focus even more on it,” he said after the Palace defeat.

“Before it was more like getting the right performance and showing that we want to stay in the Premier League. Most of the work was to have the chance of staying up and with the Wolves win we had real hope.

“The club is a good club and it’s really structured. That’s a good thing for us to start in the Championship and then we can have a look at what’s possible there.â€

They will play without that extra chip on their shoulder in the form of pressure and we have to watch out for that to keep our European aspirations intact.
