Real Madrid have had a nightmare season to say the least.
Los Blancos sit in third place in LaLiga, 15 points behind bitter rivals Barcelona, and Zinedine Zidane, who was reappointed as manager of the club in March, has so far failed to inspire a turnaround in form.
The Spanish giants are set to have a hugely busy summer in the transfer market with a vast budget set to be splashed on talent from across the continent.
Zidane has been promised an overhaul of his current crop of players and has already signed Porto defender Eder Militao.
Big names such as Eden Hazard, Christian Eriksen and Paul Pogba have been strongly linked with the club for several months.
But in order to facilitate the overhaul, Zidane has to get rid of some of his current stars.
So who could be out of the Bernebeu door? talkSPORT.com has identified some potential high-profile departures from the club…
LATEST FOOTBALL NEWS
Luka Modric
Zidane is reportedly having doubts over Luka Modric’s future at the club.
The Ballon d’Or winner, 33, has struggled for form of late and the Frenchman is wary he has now peaked and may not be useful in his squad next season.
Real Madrid are hoping to sign at least one central midfielder in the summer, with Pogba and Eriksen potentially on their way to the club, and Modric’s place in the team will be in a precarious position should they land one of their targets.
The Croat came close to leaving the Bernabeu outfit for Inter in the summer but he eventually opted to stay in the Spanish capital.
However, he was left out of the starting line-up in the 3-2 victory against Villarreal on the weekend, fuelling more speculation over his future.
Gareth Bale
Talk of Gareth Bale’s Real Madrid future has been rife following the return of Zidane as manager, with the Frenchman often preferring to use Isco in his line-up in his first stint in charge.
Bale, 29, has struggled to completely win over the Los Blancos support in his six-year stint with Real Madrid, despite playing in an instrumental role in four Champions League triumphs and a LaLiga title.
He has been booed off at the Bernabeu by his own supporters on numerous occasions this season, while former Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon launched a scathing attack on him, saying he has ‘not lived up to expectations’ since his £85million arrival from Tottenham.
On the weekend, Bale was not even named as a substitute for the Villarreal clash, with Zidane saying the media can make their own assumptions about his absence.
Keylor Navas
Another player who could be on their way out of Real Madrid this summer is Costa Rica shot-stopper Keylor Navas.
The Telegraph report that Real are willing to offer Navas to Manchester United as part of the Pogba deal or as a separate signing, despite the goalkeeper emerging as Zidane’s first choice between the sticks since his return.
Following a difficult start to life in the Spanish capital, Thibaut Courtois is expected to be reinstated as the no.1 at the club next season and Real are prepared to offer Navas to an English club.
However, with Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool and Man City all looking secure in the goalkeeper department, a move to PSG may be on the cards if Gianluigi Buffon finally calls time on his career.
James Rodriguez
Colombia playmaker James Rodriguez is another player whose future at Real Madrid is uncertain.
The 27-year-old has been on loan at Bayern Munich for two seasons and the Bavarian club have the option of activating a £27m release clause to bring him to the club permanently.
Should Bayern opt against signing him, Real are reportedly set to find another buyer and would be hopeful of banking more than £27m for his services.
According to Marca, Chelsea and Manchester United have both shown interest in bringing him to the Premier League.
Isco
Isco was a firm favourite of Zidane’s in his first spell at the helm but so far he has not proven that he deserves to be in his starting line-up.
The Spaniard undoubtedly has talent in abundance but he has had a poor season this term, scoring just three goals in 25 league matches.
In January, Isco insisted he was keen to stay at the Bernabeu when playing under Santiago Solari, however with Juventus reportedly keen on his signature he may look for a move away to reignite his career.
The Mail report that Isco is on Juve’s transfer shortlist this summer, with Man United’s Paul Pogba, Ajax starlet Matthijs de Ligt and Lyon midfielder Tanguy Ndombele joining him as the targets.
