Arsenal are interested in signing Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera on a free transfer this summer, reports claim.
The Red Devils are yet to agree fresh terms with the Spanish midfielder with his existing contract expiring at the end of June.
Paris Saint-Germain have registered their interest in the 29-year-old, and according to the Daily Mail, the Gunners have joined the race for his signature.
Both clubs would be able to offer Herrera significantly improved wages – because there would be no transfer fee involved.
It is understood United remain confident they can persuade him to stay, but Herrera is looking for almost double his current £80,000-a-week deal.
LATEST TRANSFER NEWS
“I do not concern myself with what will happen in four months, so I do not know if my time here is over,” said Herrera in response to speculation over his future.
“It’s logical when you’ve got three months left on your contact and there is an international break. I knew something would come out.
“I take it as normal. I focus on playing football in the month-and-a-half that remains (of the season). The rest is left to my agent, both the possible renewal with United and any talks with another club for my departure.
“I enjoy playing for the biggest club in England. The fans love me, they have treated me phenomenally and my duty is to listen to them – although I honestly do not know what is going to happen.
“What I see myself is trying to win at Watford next week. If you deserve rewards and if you are an honest and hard-working person, they arrive.”
